March, 2005 - Procyon Selected as a Qualified Supplier of IT Security Services to the Government of British Columbia
Procyon Security is pleased to announce that the Ministry of Management Services has selected our Principals and four Procyon Associates as Qualified Consultants under their 3-year supply arrangement for IT Security Services. Procyon's security specialists were qualified in Threat & Risk Assessment, Education & Awareness, Incident Response and General categories.
January 22, 2004 – Procyon Participates on ISO and National Security Standards
Tom Sellgren was appointed by the Canadian National Committee of the International Organization for Standardization (CNC/ISO) to the Canadian Advisory Committee on Information Technology Security (CAC-ITS) ISO/IEC JTC1 SC27. The CAC-ITS advises the Canadian Standards Association on national standards concerning IT Security. It also participates in the development of International Standards on ITS, as the group of Canadian security experts participating in ISO.
June, 2003 – Steven Schnider elected to ISSA Vancouver Executive.
Executive elections were held at the June meeting of the Vancouver Chapter of the Information System Security Association (ISSA), and Steven Schnider was elected to the position of Vice-President, Marketing Communications. The Vancouver Executive is arranging an exciting series of bi-monthly education and networking sessions, and actively promoting security awareness in the local business sector and community. Steven is enthusiastic about the opportunity to provide his energy and support to these important initiatives.
May 12, 2003 – Tom Sellgren joins Procyon Security Group.
Procyon Security is pleased to announce that Tom Sellgren will be joining the Group in June, 2003 as Partner and Principal. Tom was previously the Director of IT Security for the Government of British Columbia and has over 20 years experience managing Information Technology projects. He has been an IT security consultant to the private sector since establishing TAS Consulting Services in the spring of 2001. His government experience includes setting BC government security strategic direction, coordinating Federal Provincial Security operations, managing threat and risk assessments and developing comprehensive security policy documents. Tom has been responsible for all aspects of IT, physical and personnel Security. He managed projects ranging from virus protection and intrusion detection to web filtering, criminal investigations and building physical access control systems. He has work experience in the United States, Canada and Hong Kong in both the government and private sector. Procyon Security welcomes Tom to our growing team of experienced IT security professionals.
April 24, 2003 - Procyon Security Group partners with Cinnabar Networks to provide CSE-approved IT Security Services to clients in the Federal Government of Canada.

Recent Publications and Presentations
User Authentication and Secure Remote Access
Steven Schnider spoke at the WCSF '04 on the subject of strong authentication for remote access applications. Steve's talk surveyed the strengths and weaknesses of different authentication technologies, including one-time password generators, USB tokens, smart cards and biometrics, and described some of the key considerations when integrating these technologies into a large enterprise.
